recipes smoothies & drinks Jul 11, 2018

This recipe is nutrient dense, Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) friendly, lower carb, grain free, gluten free, dairy free, nut free, egg free, nightshade free, paleo, primal, Whole30 compliant, & keto friendly!

This bone broth latte tastes soooooo delicious and is my new go to warm beverage in the mornings.

I created this beverage while I was in my first trimester of my pregnancy with Luna. I was pretty nauseous all the time and eating enough was challenging. In comes bone broth. Which is full of nourishing benefits that are all great while pregnant. Add it gave me an extra way to make sure I was getting enough protein in during such a hard time to eat or keep much down. I added the ginger to the water because I would make fresh ginger tea to help with my nausea (and it did) so I thought it would be great as a base for this drink. I would make this drink a lot of mornings and sip on it as a coffee alternative.

A Short Note on Swaps or Ingredients:

*While I cannot guarantee that using these swaps will yield the same flavors I have create in this recipe, these swaps should generally work well! *

  • I use Ancient Nutrition Pure Bone Broth Collagen Protein powder in this recipe. I have not tried it with other brands of powdered bone broth. If you do try it and it works out, please leave a comment below so we can learn from the rest of you! This would also work great with homemade bone broth or a frozen bone broth like Boneafied Provisions.

  • Use organic, cold pressed coconut oil if you're sensitive to dairy or are on the strict phase of the AIP. You CAN use grass-fed ghee or butter if you can tolerate dairy or have successfully reintroduced these items.
